Google search gets personal: Block sites you do not like

Google has implemented its algorithm update within the name of search quality and currently it’s adding another layer of personalization: Block the sites you don’t like.

In a blog post, Google made public the most recent move.

Perhaps the result just wasn’t quite right, but sometimes you may dislike the site in general, whether it’s offensive, pornographic or of generally low quality. For times like these, you’ll start seeing a new option to block particular domains from your future search results.

Once you click block, you get a confirmation message and an choice to undo the clicking. And when a site is blocked you won’t see in your future results. there’ll be an choice to manage and show blocked sites if you modify your mind.

The feature rolls out on Chrome nine and higher than, IE8 and up and Firefox three.5 and up.

Overall, i favor this personalization approach. Algorithms are nice, however I’d rather create the decision on what i believe is quality content.
